Princess Alexa

Alexa has been on strike from getting her picture taken, or at least a good picture w/ a normal face. Today the strike ended. For Christmas my mom got Alexa a box of 4 sets of princess dresses. Alexa has put one on all day everyday since she got them. Today was the first day being Sleeping Beauty and she was NOT shy. She was striking poses and everything. The joke around the house lately is that I've been watching too much America's next top model. She always poses in front of the mirror, but today I really started thinking maybe she's learning from the show even though I try not to let her watch it. And to top it off she also got a wand so she now gives everyone a pretty dress and a carriage to go to the ball. So today here is Princess Alexa.

Here comes the poses.

Excuse the belly shots.....she's not very graceful.

I officially have a girl, so my new saying is " She'll still pull up her skirt and run w/ the boys"

The penguin, bunny and Devil

So my family was in a Christmas play at the church this year. Alexa was suppose to be a sheep and I spent all this time gluing cotton balls on her outfit but when she put it on the cotton balls were shedding like crazy. So she ended up being a bunny. Charlie was a penguin and was suppose to walk across the stage but when it came time she was crying so she got carried instead. Anthony was the Devil.....need I say more. J/K. His costume scared the lil' girl that was suppose to be the bunny so much that she begged her mom not to be in the play. All in all the girls really didn't do much but they were cute and Anthony did a really good job.....enjoy.

the volume may be low....
Alexa and Charlie....watch Alexa pushing the monkey, who always picks on her.

Anthony....beware j/k. Sorry about the unsteady camera Charlie was sitting on my lap.

The end

Snow Storm Day part 2

As you can see from my other blog we had a snow storm for three days straight. The day after it snowed our crazy family decided to go outside and play. It's weird to play in the snow when you really don't know what to expect. The snow was so light it almost was like ash falling after a fire, but prettier. When you walked your foot would sink so far. It was fun just cold.
Anthony decided to fall back into the snow
and then throw Alexa in it too
Which she had some struggle getting out of.
Alexa walking in front of our house we had already shoveled, but if you notice how high the snow was, you can see why Anthony thought it was ok to throw Alexa. Alexa is 37" tall and it was past her waste.
You have to shovel a lot here i guess otherwise things get icy and slippery.
So there's Anthony....
and Alexa coming to help.

I have to say seeing Alexa trying to shovel snow was quite cute. Even though she could barely lift the shovel when it had snow on it and probably made more work for Anthony than actually helping him, she still wanted to help Daddy and that was so cute.

Starting Christmas Season

This is the first year we started doing craft and Christmas things w/ the girls, and when I say the girls I mean Alexa, Charlie is still too young. My mom came to visit for the holidays and brought the Christmas cheer to Alexa. They did a bunch of decorating and crafts plus lots of sugar eating going on too.
I let Alexa pick out the tinsel and bulbs, so she would be excited about decorating.
Decorating the tree

Putting on her special ornament Mama got her

And Charlie taking it back off the tree

Final result

painting decorations

Sorry we still do most crafts w/ no shirt on

Of course we had to get "reindeer ears"
Charlie's smile w/ her 6 teeth

Alexa finally willing to take a picture

I don't know if it's the ages of the girls or just bad luck but taking a picture is not fun in our family right now. Alexa has been on a kick of making funny faces and Charlie acts like she doesn't know her name so we took lots of pictures for our Christmas card and these were the only descent ones.
First year of making Gingerbread house. Alexa loved the frosting and candy the most, she even tried to sneak tastes in.

We enjoyed so much more like making cheese cakes and Santa hats, but didn't catch them on camera. we also went to this thing called Bright Nights. They set up all these lights around Forest Park and you drive through looking at all the sceneries. I took video but you can hear Charlie crying in the back ground which isn't that great of a video.I guess when it's snowing outside you have to do more crafts than usual. So we've enjoyed all the time we've spent as a family and the fun crafts we did.

Snow Storm

We had been getting warnings of a snow storm, and I have never been in a snow storm so I thought I'd take pictures every hour to show how much snow was falling, but I ended up taking them more often than I expected.

The first hour. Notice the the parking lot has cars, and you can see ground.

You can see the sidewalks

You can see the sidewalk and curb at the school next to our house.

40 mins. later when I took Alexa to go play outside.

Alexa's foot print. When she stepped the snow would almost cover her shoe.

Note: this is only a couple inches of snow.

My kid won't eat veggies but she'll eat snow falling.

Snow angels that worked.

20 min after that.....notice there's no sidewalk or curbs and they plowed the sidewalk between pictures.

This is what it looked like right before I left the house to go get Anthony at work. Luckily he works a few blocks away.

Note: this is what it actually looked like the snow was really falling down so much that all you could see was white.

I'm loving the look of the snow and Alexa is enjoying playing in it. I don't recommend anyone to drive in it though. It was not fun and frustrating when your car gets stuck in a snow
pile, while trying to turn or park.

My Lumber Jack and Marshmallow Girls

It snowed a couple days ago and I took the girls out to play in the backyard yesterday. The snow had already turned hard like ice but we still had fun. I have to say getting the girls bundled up in snow gear is not the most fun thing to do. I couldn't help but laugh at their outfits, we're not use to snow suits and they looked really funny to me, there's definitely padding in them, but they stayed warm and had fun which is what really matters.

The Lumber Jack

The Marshmallow Girl

The tire swing doesn't get old or too cold to play w/.....
or playing ball, I guess.
TRYING to make snow angels, but the snow was too hard.
They're cute even when they're cold and have bright pink faces.

Christmas Tree Farm

Okay I discovered the best thing ever last Saturday. We went on another adventure w/ the Calisch family. Danielle told me about this place that they go to and buy their Christmas tree every year. So we decided to tag along since Alexa has been obsessed w/ "Christmas" trees since we went to Yankee Candle. They had so many trees, it was probably bigger than a vineyard in Temecula.
So when we got there we went on this short tractor ride to where all the trees are.
When we get off the tractor they handed Adam (Danielle's husband) a saw. I know, what does he need a saw for. That's what I was thinking. You get to cut down your own Christmas tree.....how cool is that? We are in a really small house right now so we just got a little tree that would fit in front of our fireplace. It's literally as big as Alexa. But she helped pick it out and it was really fun, besides freezing our butts off.
Alexa wanted to keep the piece Anthony cut from the bottom.
It was nice also to be able to let Alexa and Issac just run around. They could burn some energy and not get lost. They seemed to love being free.
When we were done picking out the trees, we went back to the house to pay for the trees and they give you free hot cider, cookies and popcorn. Alexa and I didn't really like the cider but it was still really nice and warm inside. They have this really pretty golden retriever named Rosie. She was the sweetest dog. Alexa and Issac kept petting her and half the time she was laying down letting all the kids just circle around her and pet her she never moved and was very passive. At one point I put Charlie down and Rosie walked right up to Charlie and kissed her little cheek.
It was so cute and Charlie loved it. Both the girls love dogs every time we walk outside they have to play w/ the dog that lives downstairs. The only bad part was that every tree is the same price. When we went to go pay we thought the trees were cheaper than they were and maybe our could be cheaper since it was only 3 ft tall. But when Adam went to go pay for the trees ( because we didn't bring cash) the total came to $80. And if you're anything like Anthony and I $40 is too much for a 3ft tree. So Anthony and Danielle talked to them and they gave it to us for cheaper. But overall the experience was fun.
Can you see the joy in their faces.
