All Dressed Up

For those who know Anthony they know he's a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops kind of guy. So I thought I'd share these pictures w/ you. A month ago we went to our friends Donnie and Holly's wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding. Anthony and Gabe were groomsmen. I've got to capture these times Anthony's dressed up and display them because they don't come often enough, plus he's soo cute it's hard not to show him off. Hope you enjoy....but not too much J/K:)

Lets Party

We had Alexa's birthday party yesterday. I think she had fun over all. She seemed to be over whelmed by all the kids and gifts and everything going on. She was stuck to my leg for awhile then realized she wanted to play. There weren't to many pictures to take of her, since she was in this weird mood. She had fun shopping for all the stuff and picking out her first pinata the day before but when it came to hitting it she was scared to. She took one swing and then refused to hit Tinker Bell. But she sure loved the lollipops when they fell. We did a water balloon toss and she loved throwing them at the older boys from youth group. It was really cute when we were signing happy birthday to her she was all bashful when we said Alex. Opening gifts there was no hesitation. I think the kids were just as excited to watch her open their gifts as she was to open them. At the end of the day we did have to deal w/ a sugar high but it was worth it to watch her have a great day and fun w/ her friends. I still can't believe my baby is three. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago and soon I'll have a one yr. old too.

The last thing I wanted to share was a thing called Webkinz. To all who have kids. Alexa now has 2 of these animals from kids at church who got them for her.Ok it's pretty much a stuffed animal you can buy at a Christian stores. That has a tag on it for the computer. You log in and put your animal on the computer and take care of it. Alexa doesn't really get it and we don't really like her on the computer but she likes the animals. It's fun for older kids you can play games and learn how to take care of an animal w/ out having to buy a real animal. Just wanted to share that w/ everyone who might have kids.

Alexa and her new bike. She can't ride really well yet but she's super stoked just to sit on it.

Birthday Day

Alexa's birhday was on the 14th of Aug. to celebrate it before her party, we asked Alexa what she wanted to do for her birthday and she said" go to the park." So we went to a park right down the street that has a playground and the water area. Once again she just ran right into the water. Actually as she was running toward the water a little boy was riding his bike through the water and slipped and landed right on top of her. She cried for a min. and then ran for the water. We asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she said, " Chocolate and a doonut." Which she didn't get either, but she got a happy meal, candy and a soccor ball. So we played and Anthony brought water balloons. Alexa through water on me and chase Anthony w/ water ballons. Over all she had a good birthday. Her birthday party pictures will come next week. Sorry about all the pics I got bored w/ the slideshows.

Play Date Fun

So like I've posted before there are really cool parks here. About a week ago our play date went to a park that's has a really nice playground on half (which there are pics further down the blog) and on the other half it has all these fountains with water poring out of them or coming up from the ground. And if you know Alexa, then you should know she doesn't really like water hitting her face so every time we've gone to this park she completely avoids the water side. But this time we went she got brave and ran right in and was VERY hard to get out. I just thought I'd share her bravery. Also share Charlie's first time on the swings which she loved. She smiled and chewed on the swing the whole time.

Then yesterday we went to a city park which was another beautiful park. I love the city parks here. They are all surrounded w/ big trees, ponds and lots of grass to just run. We went to the playground at first, and then this boy come over and was showing all the frogs he caught. So of course all the kids then wanted to go over to the ponds and look at the tadpoles and frogs. It's funny usually Alexa is the only girl at the play dates and this time more girls came and all the boys weren't there. They missed out on the frogs and getting dirty. oh well they had fun w/ out the boys. We didn't catch anything, the frogs were in to deep of water.

Weekend of Fun

So let me tell you about our weekend. We had a lot of fun and Alexa experienced some new things for the first time. We had less sleep then usual and no tears or stress. The weekend was suppose to be thunderstorms all weekend and there was sunshine for all the outdoor events. We saw the love of God all weekend and seemed to see Him in a different light in different situations. We love God. He is amazing and never fails to shine a new light on things we've seen a million times before.
So starting w/ Friday. In Westfield there's a kids camp for special needs children and every year they open it up to all kids by word of mouth only. They set the school up w/ jolly jumps, fire trucks to explore, kiddy games, face painting, balloon animals, and food. The cool thing about this is its a fun raiser to help the camp stay open. Everything is only a penny and the food is a dollar. So if you're anything like me you're thinking cool it's cheap and fun, I wish this was open everyday. So our play group went there for a play date. Walking around the place you think how sad that these kids have handicaps, it makes you thankful for even just all your toes and fingers. The cool thing is, that non of the kids were sad or even seemed to notice they were handicap. The kids in our play group didn't even seem to notice either, they tried to play w/ them as if nothing was wrong. Sometimes I wish I had the eyes of a child.....to not notice handicap, or people different from us, they have no fear or judgement (prejudice). So anyway we had a lot of fun. Alexa experienced her first snow cone and the sadness of dropping it before she was done. Face painting which she made me take a picture of so she could see it, then right away wanted to pick the paint off. We still need to work on patience for waiting in line. The games all had lines that weren't even that long but Alex wanted candy and didn't want to wait for it. She did good but it definitely wasn't her favorite part. Full of popcorn candy, hamburger, and snow cone I think she had a great day and had a lot of time to burn the sugar.
Saturday was a long day. Alex didn't take a nap on Fri. and woke up early on Saturday. We got ready and headed out around 10:30 am. We headed to the park to help set up for the day. Our church along w/ other churches from around the city got together and we had a Family Day. Basically we went to one of the larger parks in the city called Blunt Park, I know it's the perfect name for a Christian event. We had games, jolly jumps, a train ride, a police car to explore, and music (a DJ and live bands). Weeks prior to the event we had been handing out tracks and flyers to invite people to come. We had about 200 or so people show up. I don't think there were that many unsaved people, but it was still nice to get together w/ other Christians and share the love of Christ. It's nice when people are willing to help out not only w/ their time but financially too. Sometimes you can see the love of God just looking around at Christians you already know.
So to the fun part. Alexa ran on sugar for day 2. We had a little set back on the grill to cook the food. So Alexa found the table handing out free cotton candy and popcorn, and felt free to help herself. When I saw her w/ cotton candy the first time I thought oh well. Hours later after eating popcorn, candy, chips, and 1 hot dog I saw her w/ her 2nd helping of cotton candy I thought oh great....we're getting no sleep tonight. But like the good mom that I am I still let her eat it. She had fun throwing the water balloons at the teens but DID NOT like them thrown at her. One of the boys found water guns and Anthony taught her how to use it and told her to chase me around the park squirting me. We had fun. This whole time Charlie was sleeping. We went on a train ride around the park and Alexa fell in love. All she could say is " look at that and that and...." it got old but hey she had fun. The jolly jump was fun for her but she never went on the water slide one. She just can't handle water splashing on her face. When Charlie was awake she had fun crawling around in the grass and being held by everyone. I decided to help Anthony and some of the ladies from church serve food for awhile. And this was the hard part of the day for me. As most people know I watch Alexa like a hawk. It's very hard for me to let her out of my sight. but for at least an hour I let her run around w/ the church kids. She never seemed to be lost or left out even though she is one of the youngest in the church. And probably for once she let go of me and she felt free and I felt ok w/ her not by my side.
And then there was Sunday. We went to church in the morning. At night we had a youth movie night. We were at the church from 7-10pm. Alexa was soo good watching the movie and behaving during game time. The girls and I experienced driving in a thunderstorm for the first time. We ran errands for Anthony before youth night and there was hard raining, lightning and thunder. I do not recommend driving in this weather. It's pretty scary to see lightning right outside your car. But it was definitely an experience.
So over all thank the Lord we had a blessed weekend just doing things w/ other Christians and appreciating all He has given us. I love my family so much and can't thank Him enough for them
